Gibbs won the 2022 Xfinity Series championship on Saturday (Nov. 5), along with the race, and has filled in for the injured Kurt Busch in 23XI Racing’s No. 45-turned-23 entry since Pocono Raceway, having made 15 starts thus far. His best result came at Michigan International Speedway, where he finished 10th.
It appeared that AJ Allmendinger will fill in for Gibbs at Phoenix. Car adjustments were being carried out with both Allmendinger and Kaulig Racing president Chris Rice in the garage.
