Race control have noted a potential impeding incident involving Perez and Sainz. “What is he doing?” asked the Red Bull driver.

A brief yellow flag now as the session winds down with Leclerc fastest by a mere six-thousandths of a second. Bottas went off at turn one.

Both Mercedes have now run, Russell is on his eighth lap after making a belated start to the session.

Hamilton moves up to second, six-hundredths of a second off Perez. Drivers are now switching to the medium compound for their race simulation runs.

Colapinto touches the barrier at turn nine but is able to continue this time.

Perez, who’s looking more comfortable in the Red Bull than he has from quite a while, beats Sainz’s time by almost half a second to go top. Verstappen has another off, meanwhile, going off at turn three.

Oscar Piastri has gone up to second, three-hundredths of a second off Sainz.

It seems Gasly had a problem when he held Norris up: “I had a problem. I have a problem with the battery. I’m sorry.”

Verstappen goes second, within a tenth of Sainz. An impressive run by Haas substitute Oliver Bearman puts him fourth.

Tsunoda then gets out of Norris’ way at the exit of turn 13 as the McLaren driver comes by. Pierre Gasly fails to do the same at turn 17, however, and completely ruins Norris’ lap. The McLaren driver raises a middle finger at his rival.

We’ve got a dozen drivers on softs now so we’re about to see some big improvements. Yuki Tsunoda jumps up to third on a 1’44.645.

Colapinto has joined the session in his repaired Williams. That leaves only Russell yet to run, he’s stuck in the pits as…
