In the round-up: Pirelli changed its planned trophies for the United States Grand Prix due to concerns over possible similarities to other products.
In brief
US GP trophies changed
Pirelli commissioned artist and designer Matteo Macchiavelli to create the trophies for the United States Grand Prix, which it was the title sponsor of. However the ‘Heroo’ designs he created were not presented on the podium.
Race winner Charles Leclerc received a more traditional trophy while Carlos Sainz Jnr and Max Verstappen received awards similar in style to Pirelli’s pole position award. F1’s official tyre supplier originally intended to create “a limited production run for collectors and fans of collectible art toys” using the trophy design.

“Unfortunately – and I apologise to the team here – I carried too much speed into turn one, hit a bump at the wrong angle and lost the rear when I tried to attack the cars ahead,” he explained.
“After that, the pace was tricky in the second stint, and I experienced some drop-off where we need to understand what happened – but the first 10 laps felt quite promising considering where we’ve been in recent races.”
Colapinto pleased with second point
Franco Colapinto was pleased to achieve the second points finish of his four-race F1 career in Austin.
