In the round-up: Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali says the world championship sets the global standard in “sport entertainment”.

In brief

F1 is biggest “sport entertainment” series

Domenicali, who took charge of F1 in 2021, said the series “seems to be in another era” compared to just five years ago, shortly after Liberty Media’s takeover of F1.

He predicted the sport will continue to grow over the coming years. “If you just look back, not 30 [but] five years in Formula 1, it seems to be in another era, so I don’t know in that respect what it’s going to be,” he told Pirelli. “I want to say something that maybe is quite heavy.

“F1 will be the protagonist of the life of the people who will be there in 30 years because all the ingredients are there, the ingredients of connected people, the ingredients of the right technology to develop as an accelerator, the ingredients of talking of something that is sport, but [also] business and entertainment.

“At the end of the day, today, I can say that F1 is the biggest sport entertainment in the world and this is for sure what it will be in 30 years.”

Mansell secures F2 seat

Christian Mansell, who made his Formula 2 debut with Trident at the last round in Baku, will race for Rodin in the series next year. Zane Maloney, who has now joined Formula E team Lola, and Ritomo Miyata races for Rodin in F2 this year.
