In today’s rapidly advancing world of motorsport, a strong foundation in technical expertise, hands-on experience, and adaptability is essential for success. The National Motorsport Academy (NMA) is leading the way in preparing the next generation of engineers, technicians, and motorsport professionals. By offering a mix of updated course content, practical experience with race teams, and personalised student support, NMA ensures its graduates are well-rounded, industry-ready professionals poised to lead the motorsport industry.

Hands-on experience with Team NMA

One of the key features that sets NMA apart is its commitment to providing students with real-world experience through its race team, Team NMA. Students work directly with their tutors on race setup, testing, data analysis, and fine-tuning vehicles. This hands-on exposure is crucial, allowing students to apply their online learning in real motorsport environments.

Dr. Kieran Reeves, NMA’s Director of Motorsport, says “At the National Motorsport Academy, we’re not just academics; we’re qualified race engineers with years of experience. Our team has competed in various GT race series, with a primary focus on the GT Cup. This enables us to provide students with invaluable, hands-on race experience at live events. Students who join us gain practical skills working directly on race vehicles, covering everything from mechanical tasks to electrical diagnostics and data analysis.”

Russell Howard, recruitment expert at RaceStaff, underscores the importance of practical experience in the job market. “Hands-on experience is absolutely critical; it’s pretty much the first question an employer will ask,” says Howard. “Candidates think a motorsport degree alone will secure them a great job, but there are many graduates competing for the same roles. Employers ask, ‘What else have you done?’ and students from NMA are well-prepared to answer that question with real-world examples.”

The integration of classroom knowledge with practical experience equips NMA students with the skills and confidence they need to stand out.
