Isack Hadjar Locks in Formula 1 Grid, Joins Racing Bulls for 2025

French driver Isack Hadjar will debut at the pinnacle of motorsport next season, driving for Racing Bulls F1 Team (VCARB) alongside Japanese Yuki Tsunuda, the Faenza-based outfit confirmed on Friday.

Isack Hadjar has been promoted to Formula 1 from the Red Bull Junior Program, becoming the latest addition to the FIA Formula One World Championship grid for 2025.

I’m very excited to step into my new role at VCARB; this is huge for myself, my family, and all the people who have believed in me from the beginning,” he outlined.”

The 20-year-old rookie, who finished runner-up to 2024 Brazilian champion Gabriel Bortoleto in Formula 2, filled in the gap left after Liam Lawson moved from Racing Bulls to the works team, Red Bull Racing, replacing Mexican driver Sergio Perez for 2025.

The journey from karting through the ranks in single-seaters to now, being in Formula One, is the moment I’ve been working towards my whole life. It is the dream,” he added.

I feel like I am stepping into a whole new universe, driving a much faster car and racing with the best drivers in the world. It will be a huge learning curve, but I’m ready to work hard and do my best for the team.

I look forward to working with and learning from Yuki. I’ve always looked up to him; he went through the Red Bull Junior Program, like myself, and we’ve shared a similar path to F1. He’s very experienced and will be good to learn from.”

Throughout his second campaign in F2, Hadjar earned four wins, including Melbourne, notching his maiden triumph in the series, Imola, Spa-Francorchamps, and Silverstone.

In addition, he collected eight podiums and one pole position for his team, Campos Racing.

Then, he took part in the end-of-season Abu Dhabi test driving for Red Bull, making an impression at the top, becoming the faster racer compared to F1 full-time driver Yuki Tsunoda, who also ran for the outfit.

Speaking about Racing Bull’s latest addition, Team Principal Laurent Mekies commented: “His journey to Formula One has been nothing short of outstanding. He has shown remarkable growth, with a series of impressive results in the junior single-seater ranks.

He has the talent and drive necessary to compete at the highest level, and we have every confidence that he will adapt quickly and make a significant impact. I believe Isack and Yuki will make a great team.”
