Alpine have announced Esteban Ocon will not take part in qualifying for the Miami Grand Prix after damage sustained in his crash in FP3.
The Frenchman cracked his chassis after spinning his car into the wall at Turn 14 during third practice on Saturday, with the damage proving terminal for his chances of taking part in qualifying.
The Alpine driver will start last on the grid as it stands, with his mechanics needing to fit a new chassis in order for him to take part in the race on Sunday.
It could prove to be a tough miss for Ocon in qualifying as his team-mate Fernando Alonso showed a solid turn of pace during qualifying simulations in final practice.
The outcome leaves Ocon with a significant amount of work to do to make up lost ground on Sunday having had a solid start to the season so far.
