Akinori Ogata will enter two NASCAR Xfinity Series races for MBM Motorsports later this year, he tweeted June 28.
Ogata will attempt his fourth and fifth career Xfinity starts when the series heads to New Hampshire Motor Speedway on July 16 and Texas Motor Speedway on Sept. 24 in MBM’s No. 13 Toyota Supra, a part-time entry for the team.
No sponsors have been announced for the effort as of yet.
These entries will be the first time the 48-year-old has entered a NASCAR Xfinity Series race since last year, when he earned his best series result with a 26th-place finish at Martinsville Speedway.
The 49-year-old’s NASCAR efforts in 2022 are limited to one start in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series at Darlington Raceway, where he finished 36th.
