George Josevski and Adam Popovic’s Modified 10.5 match-up at the 2022 Brisbane Jamboree was shaping up to be a hotly contested race, but nobody knew how hot it would get. What should have been a nice side-by-side 7-second race quickly turned into a spectacle of the wrong kind thanks to a massive wheelstand and an even bigger explosion within the first few hundred feet of the run when Josevicki’s torque converter failed.
The VL Commodore that Josevski pilots is a nasty ride thanks to its potent Nissan RB engine. Josevski was a top contender in the Modified 10.5 class during the Brisbane Jamboree after he qualified with a 7.21 at 193 mph. That level of turbocharged horsepower on such a small tire makes for a very exciting car to drive.

Things got interesting during the Josevski and Popovic race right from the start when Popovic’s machine immediately started to climb the ring gear as the car’s nose headed towards the sky. Just as Popovic was starting to return from orbit, the front of Josevski’s Commodore erupted into a gigantic fireball. The fire’s intensity quickly diminished as Josevski rolled down the track. Thankfully, Josevski’s safety gear didn’t get too big of a workout and the damage to the car is repairable. Check out the footage from ProStreet Nation and Zotti Motorsports Media to see just how crazy of a run this was.
