As the next-to-last qualifier in NASCAR Xfinity Series qualifying at Texas Motor Speedway (Sept. 24), Joe Gibbs Racing’s Brandon Jones sped to the pole to earn his third pole in the last four races with a speed of 185.637 mph.
The pole is Jones’s sixth of his career and fourth pole of 2022.
Jones will be joined by JR Motorsports driver Noah Gragson on the front row. Daniel Hemric, John Hunter Nemechek, and Sam Mayer round out the top five. Nemechek is the only non-playoff driver starting in the top 10.
Justin Allgaier scored a sixth-place effort, and regular season champion AJ Allmendinger qualified seventh. Ty Gibbs starts from the eighth position, while Austin Hill and Jeremy Clements round out the top 10.
Neither Akinori Ogata nor Garrett Smithley attempted a qualifying lap due to engine issues.
The NASCAR Xfinity Series playoffs will kick off at Texas on Saturday, Sept. 24 at 3:30 p.m. ET on the USA Network.
