NASCAR Cup Series drivers take on the final superspeedway race of the season this weekend, and it’s a doozy.
Let’s get your daily fantasy NASCAR DraftKings lineups ready for the YellaWood 500 at Talladega Superspeedway, airing Sunday, Oct. 2, at 2 p.m. ET on NBC, the Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR radio.
Talladega is much wider than Daytona International Speedway and slightly longer at 2.66 miles. Since it’s so wide, cars often will run in three and four lanes in the pack, and one slight bobble or an errant push can cause the Big One.
But occasionally, cars get in a single-file train, keeping things relatively calm within the draft. It will be interesting to see how drivers approach this race, especially since two drivers are out with concussion-like symptoms (Alex Bowman and Kurt Busch). Will they form a single-file line for most of the race? Or will chaos reign, like what happened in the regular season finale at Daytona?
It’ll probably be somewhere in the middle: calm at some points and heart-wrenching near the end of stages and the race.
In daily fantasy, choose drivers who consistently survive the wreckage and finish up front, especially those who start in the back half of the pack. These can rack up position differential points on DraftKings. Also, if someone like Joey Logano can maintain a good pace up front, lead laps and record fastest laps, they could be another option if he finishes in the top 10.
If you wish to see qualifying, it runs at 10:30 a.m. ET on Saturday, Oct. 1, on the Motor Racing Network and streams on the NBC Sports App.

Christopher Bell (who was 35% rostered in the $3,000 Quarter Jukebox tournament) ended up crashing out with a couple of blown tires, so this lineup was sunk early. Fellow Toyota driver Bubba Wallace had to make a big save while running in the top 10 around lap 182. Though he avoided the wall, he lost a lot of track position and was never able to make it back up. In some ways, Texas seemed more like a superspeedway race with all the crashes that took place.
Because of Bell’s and Wallace’s rough outings, this lineup didn’t…
