AJ Allmendinger Opens Round Of 8 With Xfinity Pole At Las Vegas

AJ Allmendinger scored back-to-back wins at Talladega Superspeedway and the Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL, and he continues his hot streak with a pole in the NASCAR Xfinity Series’ return to Las Vegas Motor Speedway with a speed of 181.720 mph in qualifying.

It’s Allmendinger’s fifth pole of the year, and he sweeps the poles at Las Vegas after starting on point back in March. Allmendinger was the last car to go and beat Trevor Bayne by .013 seconds to claim the top spot.

Joe Gibbs Racing had a strong outing in Friday night’s (Oct. 14) session, as Ty Gibbs followed JGR teammate Bayne in the third spot. The JR Motorsports teammates of Noah Gragson and Sam Mayer followed to round out the top five.

Daniel Hemric clocked in sixth, while Brandon Jones followed him in seventh. Austin Hill, Sheldon Creed and Justin Allgaier completed the top 10.

Josh Berry was the lone playoff driver to qualify outside the top 10 in 12th.

There was one incident in qualifying, as Riley Herbst made a great save after spinning out on his lap.

With 38 entries, every driver qualified for the race.

The Alsco Uniforms 302 will take place on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 3 p.m. ET with TV coverage provided by NBC.
