It was won by Helmut Marko of today’s Red Bull F1, and Gijs van Lennep, a Dutch. It’s that Porsche with the Martini livery behind the #17 Gulf, driven by Derek Bell and Jo Siffert, who would end up dying in a racing crash, a few months later.

It was the last year of the big 5L, 12 cylinder engines.

And also the last time the Maison Blanche presented a hazard for the drivers.
