Update (5:45 p.m. ET): Daniel Dye has since been suspended indefinitely by the ARCA Menards Series following his April 26 arrest. GMS Racing has also commented on the arrest, noting that it “is aware of the situation” and offering no further comment “until more information becomes available.”  More on that here.

Daniel Dye was arrested in Volusia County, Fla., for felony battery on April 26, according to Volusia County arrest records and later confirmed by the Daytona Beach Police Department.

The ARCA Menards Series driver was arrested and released within approximately three-and-a-half hours that day.

Dye was released on a cash bond of $2,500.

According to the police report obtained by Frontstretch, Dye was attending class at Father Lopez Catholic High School in Daytona Beach, Fla., on April 26. Around 2:50 p.m. ET, Dye began “dancing and grinding” next to a fellow student in the classroom.

His classmate reportedly attempted to stop Dye, who then, according to the report, allegedly “punched [his classmate] in the groin area.” The classmate fell to the ground in pain. He made it to the bathroom, where he had a “large bruise and his scrotum was swollen.”

Later, the student “was diagnosed with a possible ruptured testicle and referred to a urologist,” according to the report.

The student is pressing charges against Dye, who was taken into custody afterward.

Dye’s attorney told FOX Sports reporter Bob Pockrass that he expects Dye to be exonerated from these charges.

Dye atty Aaron Delgado: Once all the facts come to light, Mr Dye is going to be completely exonerated. It appears that this was people playing a game at the school and nothing more than that. The school is not taking any action and we don’t think police involvement was warranted. https://t.co/ROxaTXhcl7
