Mick Schumacher is predicting “mistakes will happen” in Sunday’s Miami Grand Prix, he only hopes “they don’t happen to us”.
One of two regular race drivers yet to score a point this season, the other being Nicholas Latifi, Schumacher is dreaming of breaking his duck at this weekend’s 57-lap Miami Grand Prix.
He will line up P15 on the grid, one place ahead of his team-mate Kevin Magnussen at the first of Haas’ two home races.
However, like his rivals, the German is predicting a difficult Sunday given the nature of the Miami International Autodrome.
The 19-corner circuit features several challenging corners, perhaps the most difficult being the Turn 14-15 chicane that has an uphill approach that then drops down on exit.
Schumacher reckons there could be several incidents.
“The track seems to be quite difficult and challenging in many ways so mistakes will happen, but as long as they don’t happen to us, that’s good,” he said.

Unfortunately for the 23-year-old he has already had his fair share this season, spinning twice in the opening laps of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix having lined up a career best P10 on the grid.
He finished that grand prix down in 17th place, his point-less run up to 25 points.
He is hoping that his error-free run in qualifying in Miami, even if he didn’t quite have the pace for Q3, bodes well for Sunday’s race.
“It was unfortunate as we had the hope of getting into Q3,” he said, “I just think we weren’t there in terms of pace.
“Still, I’m happy overall as we made the right calls at the right time, we just didn’t manage to improve on the new tyres.”
As for his team-mate Magnussen, the Dane is predicting a “crazy” race.
“It’s going to be a crazy race,” he said, “and hopefully we can fight back.
