Trackhouse Announces Internationally Focused Part-Time Cup Entry

Trackhouse Racing Team will enter a third part-time NASCAR Cup Series team into future races focusing on international racing talent, it announced May 24.

The new entry, given the name Project 91, is expected to field international drivers from other racing disciplines.

The reveal video, which premiered on Tuesday, features background footage of Formula 1 and NTT IndyCar Series racing, possibly hinting at the racing dispositions from which the entry’s drivers may originate.

“PROJECT91’s mission is to activate the intersection point of NASCAR racing and global motorsport culture,” Marks said in a team release. “I truly believe the NexGen car represents an opportunity for NASCAR to enter the global professional motorsport conversation. We now have a race vehicle with international technological relevance where world-class drivers from other disciplines can compete at NASCAR’s highest level without the steep learning curve that the previous generation cars required.”

Trackhouse has not yet announced what races the No. 91 will be fielded in nor who will be driving. It has mentioned the new entry will be entered in at least one future Cup event this year, with plans to expand in future seasons.

Trackhouse currently sits fifth and 19th in Cup points with drivers Ross Chastain and Daniel Suarez, respectively.
