Daniel Ricciardo will become the latest Formula 1 driver to get behind the camera when he lends his thoughts to an upcoming Hulu series.
With the success of Netflix’ Drive to Survive, it is no surprise to see other media companies are getting in on the act.
Earlier this month, details emerged of an Apple TV movie starring Brad Pitt that Lewis Hamilton will produce and has a reported budget of up to $140million – the same as for a Formula 1 team under the 2022 cost cap. Apple have also acquired the rights to a documentary based on the seven-time World Champion.
Another driver looking to get in on the act is McLaren’s Ricciardo who has joined up with ABC Signature, Temple Hill and Lionsgate TV to create a series for Hulu.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Hulu are creating a Formula 1 scripted series that the McLaren driver will serve as an executive producer on.
The exact content of the half-hour show series is still being kept under wraps but writers are reportedly being scouted to join the project.
As arguably the main star of Drive to Survive, Ricciardo has become a popular figure especially in the US. Hamilton and Max Verstappen are the only current drivers who have more social media followers than the Australian.

Despite his struggles on the track this season, the 32-year-old has looked increasingly relaxed off it and has been known to pursue other interest during his off-time.
Ricciardo has explained that this gives him a better balance to his life as he is able to ensure a bad day on track does not affect his mood off it.
“[Having] a bad race is unfortunately too common in this sport, so I don’t want that to dictate the way I feel the week after,” he told the New York Post.
“I’ve been exposed to this already last year. I removed myself from it last year and that then started to affect my friendships at times.”
Aside from his win in Monza last year, Ricciardo’s career at McLaren has not yet hit the consistent heights that both he and the team would have hoped for.
Following criticism from the team’s CEO Zak Brown earlier this season, the Australian has put in a run of improved performances that suggest he may finally becoming more comfortable with the car.
He finished P8 in Baku and narrowly missed out on repeating a points finish last time out in Montreal.
