Sergio Perez has admitted he does not feel “very comfortable” with the Red Bull car after struggling in FP2 at the French Grand Prix.
The Mexican was down on pace in both practice sessions having finished P6 in FP1 and P10 in FP2. In contrast, Max Verstappen was much higher up the standings and finished P2 in the morning’s session and P3 in the afternoon’s.
As well as his struggles with pace, Perez also seemed to have a problem with the car itself and spent a considerable amount of time in the garage which limited the amount of laps he was able to complete.
The Red Bull driver said the problem was to do with the anti-roll bars but said it was “nothing major.”
“We were basically having some delays,” he told Formula1.com. “Nothing really going on, a bit of an issue with one of the anti-roll bars, but nothing major.”
Since winning the Monaco Grand Prix in May, Perez has seemed to struggle with the Red Bull car which looks to have been modified to fit the style of Verstappen rather than the Mexican. Perez admitted as much, conceding that he was “not very comfortable.”
“Obviously I’m not very comfortable at the moment with the car. I think there’s some good work and understanding to be done over tonight and try to pick out the best pieces for for tomorrow’s quali and race.

“It’s been very, very short stints on that soft tyre but it’s what it is and hopefully tomorrow we are able to pull it all together and be in the fight.”
Verstappen was also left less than 100% pleased with his practice performance and found himself coming up short to the two Ferraris.
The Dutchman explained that a problem with finding the right balance in his car made it hard for him to keep up with Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz.
“I think FP2 was a little bit more difficult for us,” Verstappen told reporters after the session. “Just didn’t really get the balance like we hoped for.
“We also were trying a few things with the car, so we’ll have a look at it all for tomorrow and, of course, try to be closer to what we were today.
“The long run, it’s a bit better but again, it’s the tyres are running really hot and very difficult to judge really where you are. But we know of course that we still have a little bit of work to…
