Sammy Smith Wins ARCA Pole At Watkins Glen

After posting the fastest time in the practice session on Friday (August 19), Sammy Smith won the pole for the ARCA Menards Series race at Watkins Glen International. He will lead the 25 drivers to the green flag in the General Tire Delivers 100 later on Friday.

Smith earned the fifth pole of his ARCA career. He will run double-duty at Watkins Glen as he’ll compete in the NASCAR Xfinity Series race there on Saturday.

Smith’s Xfinity Series teammate Brandon Jones will start alongside him on the front row in second place.

Ahead of his 10th career ARCA race, Connor Mosack will start third.

Three-time ARCA victor Taylor Gray will start fourth. Gray won the only other ARCA road course event this season at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

Jesse Love rounds out the starting top five in fifth place. Series points leader Nick Sanchez completes the third row on the starting grid in sixth place.

Parker Chase, Daniel Dye, Conner Jones and Austin Wayne Self round out the top 10 starters in seventh through 10th, respectively.

All drivers successfully made the race, the first of the ARCA doubleheader race weekend.

The General Tire Delivers 100 will start at 6 p.m. ET today (Friday, Aug. 19) with TV coverage provided by FOX Sports 1.
