Dunlop Riders Dominated at the 2022 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA – September 5, 2022 – (Motor Sports NewsWire) –  The PristineAuction.com National at Fox Raceway just outside of San Diego California was the twelfth and final round of the 50th anniversary 2022 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing. After winning all the AMA Pro Supercross and Motocross championships since 2010, it was no surprise that for the thirteenth consecutive year, Dunlop riders won both the 2022 250 and 450 National Motocross Championships. The Dunlop Domination continued throughout the overall championship standings, taking the top nine spots in the premier 450 class, and taking the top sixteen positions in the 250 class. By capturing all the pro AMA titles in 2022, Dunlop riders have now won a remarkable 173 AMA Pro Motocross and Supercross Championships

The 450 title was the one to watch as it all came down to the final round. With last year’s 450 champion out with an injury it opened the door for a new title holder. This 2022 season was considered one of the best MX seasons ever, with multiple points lead changes and the closest points battle it has ever been going into the final round. Team Dunlop Elite alumni Eli Tomac and Chase Sexton only had 1 point differentiating themselves going into Pala II. Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Eli Tomac came out on top beating the Team Honda HRC rider in dominating fashion going 1-1 and capturing his fifth Pro Motocross Championship!

In the 250 class, last year’s champion Jett Lawrence continued his winning ways into the 2022 season. With a 41-point lead going into the final round, the Aussie only needed to ride smart to make it two 250 Pro Motocross championships in a row! The Team Honda HRC rider did so in the extreme heat by finishing first in the opening moto and second in his final moto of the season. With eleven moto wins and nine overall wins throughout the season, Jett Lawrence was crowned the 2022 Pro Motocross 250 class champion!
