Sammy Smith Wins Race, Nick Sanchez Claims ARCA Title At Toledo

#18: Sammy Smith, TMC Toyota Camry

Holy Toledo.

Jesse Love won the pole, led the most laps and dominated all day, but it was Sammy Smith who stole the win with two laps to go after Love and Grant Enfinger made contact while battling for the lead.

Smith then held off Love on the final lap to score his sixth win of the season and the owners’ championship for the No. 18 Kyle Busch Motorsports entry.

The biggest storyline heading into the day was the drivers’ championship battle between Nick Sanchez and Daniel Dye. Sanchez entered the race with a two-point lead over Dye, but it was Sanchez who prevailed with a sixth-place finish after Dye went behind the wall after the No. 43 suffered a ball joint failure.

Enfinger finished third behind the lead duo of Smith and Love, while Taylor Gray and Rajah Caruth rounded out the top five.

Sanchez finished sixth to win the title, while Landon Pembelton, Matthew Gould, Greg Van Alst and Amber Balcaen completed the top 10.
