For many, it is the Ferrari marque that best defines the true meaning of the word ‘supercar’, and the 1980s was the decade in which the term really established itself in the motoring vocabulary. It’s probably accurate to say the 288 GTO was the first Ferrari to take the concept of a fast road car to a new level, developed, as it was, for Group B competition, and being only the second homologation Ferrari road car to boast ‘GTO’ nomenclature since the legendary 250 GTO.
