Chase Purdy will not return to Hattori Racing Enterprises in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in 2023, the team announced Tuesday (Oct. 18).
Purdy competed in all but one event this season for the team, his first season with Hattori.
He drove for GMS Racing for most of last year. In 50 career starts, Purdy has earned five top-10 finishes.
“Hattori Racing Enterprises (HRE) and Chase Purdy have agreed to amicably part ways at the end of the 2022 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season,” the team said in a statement. “We are appreciative to Chase for his efforts and contributions in helping to establish a second team and earning several career-high statistics this season. HRE intends to continue fielding two full-time teams in 2023 and is in the process of solidifying the next driver of the No. 61 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro. We look forward to closing out the season strong with Chase as we continue to build for the 2023 season.”
The Mississippi native took home his season-best finish of seventh at Talladega Superspeedway. He’s currently ranked 16th in the points standings.
Hattori hasn’t stated who would drive in place of Purdy in 2023. Tyler Ankrum, who drove the No. 16 to eight top 10s this year, is ranked 12th in points. He is not yet confirmed to remain at HRE.
