New Tubular Control Arms For 1988-’98 Chevy OBS Trucks

With the C10 truck market exploding, those rigs are getting pricey. So, enthusiasts are looking for the next big trend. So are the folks at Classic Performance Products (CPP) and they feel that 1988- ’98 OBS trucks are the next hot classic.

While there are a handful of suspension and brake parts already on the market, most were designed when these trucks were new. CPP is busy developing new products for the OBS trucks with the goal of integrating modern technology and design to accommodate today’s contemporary builds.

Enthusiasts want a truck that can handle like a new car and accommodate larger wheels and tires. With those parameters in mind, CPP is building tubular control arms that are seriously tough while integrating features like steering stops and sway bar mounts. The control arms will also work with a stock coil and shock suspensions or coilovers with packages available in multiple ride height options.

They are also developing a brake package based on the popular X10 spindle and hub. The added strength from this large, sealed-bearing design will easily handle the stress of big wheels and high G-force cornering. If that’s not enough, you can include bolt-on versions of both CPP’s 13-inch big brakes and HydraStop hydraulic assist systems to provide all the stopping power needed, regardless of engine vacuum.

OBS tubular control arms are 1-inch narrower, and this allows for more wheel to fender clearance. The control arms are proudly made in Placentia, California using CPP’s proprietary D-Spec bushings, and they come with end links to connect the factory sway bar. Paired with CPP’s new ’88-’98 X10 spindles and hubs, you gain another 1/2-inch, decrease in width, bringing wheels in a total of 1-1/2 inches per side. OBS X10 spindles and hubs are available in both stock or drop versions. The ABS-compatible sealed bearing hubs come in 5×5- and 6×5.5-inch bolt patterns with metric studs (SAE separate).
