Take A Peek At The Strict QC Tests For BP Automotive Harnesses

BP Automotive Harnesses

A good wiring harness is essential when building your LS- or LT-powered machine. The team over at BP Automotive specializes in such technology, providing you with neat, well-made, and functional harnesses.

What exactly is a wiring harness? It’s all the wires, connectors, and terminals that communicate information throughout the entire vehicle. These harnesses connect to the vehicle’s ECU and send data to many different parts of the car, such as the vehicle’s safety systems, lighting, interior electronics, and various systems within the engine. Practically anything and everything within the vehicle that is activated or controlled via an electronic signal is communicated via these harnesses.

Now that you’re familiar with the purpose of a wiring harness, you’ll understand why it’s imperative to run a car. Although, naturally, this is not a component you’d want to be repairing or regularly replacing due to the sheer complexity of these systems, the wires literally run throughout the entire vehicle.

This is why BP Automotive runs every single one of its wiring harnesses through an electronic tester, as explained by owner Bill Hillock, to ensure any human error within these products never makes it to the consumer. This means that you, as the buyer, will never have to fear receiving a faulty harness and that everything will work and communicate as expected.

Bill explains that the more complex systems from BP Automotive include a printout reporting that the harness passed the test, and the harness will include a unique serial number at the fuse block. The computer tester allows for no errors and will pick up any faults if present. Any resistance found within the harness above 5 ohms will cause the wiring harness to fail, thus proving how stringent these tests are.

The testing machine even has the ability to show where exactly the fault is and what has happened. For example, if a circuit is crossed due to a miswire, the system will tell you that there is a cross circuit as well as what exactly has been swapped around. The system will also detect shorts and high resistance, as explained earlier.
