Myatt Snider started his NASCAR Xfinity Series venture with Joe Gibbs Racing on the right foot, clocking in quickest in Daytona International Speedway practice Feb. 17.
Snider drove his No. 19, which he’ll contest part time in 2023, to a speed of 187.637 mph.
He beat former No. 19 driver Brandon Jones, who had a lap of 187.430 mph to place second. Jones took over Noah Gragson’s old ride at JR Motorsports in the No. 9 Menards Chevrolet.
Jones’ JRM teammates Justin Allgaier, Sam Mayer and Josh Berry rounded out the top five.
JGR’s Sammy Smith and John Hunter Nemechek followed the JRM quartet in sixth and seventh, with Stewart-Haas Racing teammates Riley Herbst and Cole Custer right behind in eighth and ninth. Brett Moffitt, with AM Racing, rounds out the top 10.
Forty-four teams will compete to make the 40-car field at 10:30 a.m. ET tomorrow, Feb 18, with four teams failing to qualify. All but one of those cars, the No. 43 of Ryan Ellis, took time during practice.
The green flag for the Beef. It’s What’s For Dinner 300 will drop at 4 p.m. ET the same day, with TV coverage on FOX Sports 1.
