Hendrick Motorsports’ Nos. 24 and 48 NASCAR Cup Series teams have been penalized after the races at Richmond Raceway, NASCAR announced April 6.

William Byron and Alex Bowman were hit with L1-level infractions regarding sections 14.1.D Overall Assembled Vehicle Rules and 14.1.2.B Engineering Change Log in the NASCAR Rulebook. The penalty was for the greenhouse area of each car having been modified.

Both Byron and Bowman were docked 60 driver points and five playoff points; the teams were also deducted the same amount in owner points.

Additionally, crew chiefs Brian Campe and Greg Ives are fined $75,000 each and suspended two points events, starting with April 13.

Hendrick posted a statement on Twitter: “We are reviewing the penalties issued today by NASCAR and will determine next steps following Sunday’s race at Bristol Motor Speedway.”

The penalties come after an appeals panel rescinded the points penalty to all four Hendrick cars but kept the fines and suspensions to the crew chiefs for issues with the hood louvers following the Cup race at Phoenix Raceway.

Other penalties from the weekend include L1-level infractions to Kyle Busch Motorsports’ Nos. 4 and 51 of Chase Purdy and Jack Wood, respectively, as well as the No. 2 Rev Racing team of Nick Sanchez. Each NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series team had unapproved engine oil reserve tanks and as a result will each lose 10 driver and owner points.

Also, Jeff Shoaf, Jordan Anderson Racing’s tire carrier for Richmond, and Ronnell Wilson, Joe Gibbs Racing’s fueler, are indefinitely suspended for behavioral infractions.
