Joey Logano led 138 of 150 laps in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series dirt race at the Bristol Motor Speedway to pick up the win on Saturday (April 8) night. It’s Logano’s second career series win and his first with Logano’s Team Penske teammate Ryan Blaney as his spotter.
Logano ran 1-2 most of the night with Thorsport teammate Ty Majeski. Majeski finished second. William Byron, driving for Kyle Busch finished third. Matt Crafton battled to a fourth-place finish and Grant Enfinger finished fifth.
Rookie Jake Garcia finished sixth. Chase Briscoe, Tanner Gray, Kaden Honeycutt and Matt DiBenedetto rounded out the top 10.
Zane Smith and Majeski led the field to the green flag. Majeski led the first lap, then Logano, making his second straight series start on the dirt at Bristol, took the lead. The first caution flag waved on lap 7 for Mason Massey spinning and collecting Taylor Gray and Stefan Parsons, ending their race.
Tyler Carpenter and Ben Rhodes were also involved but continued. The second caution featured five trucks as well; Tyler Ankrum spun out and collected Kris Wright, Timmy Hill, Carpenter and Spencer Boyd.
Logano held off Majeski to win stage one. Most of the field pitted, but DiBenedetto stayed out and led the field to the green flag for stage two. DiBenedetto led for 10 laps before Logano returned to the front on lap 52. Multiple single-truck spins throughout the stage brought out cautions, but Logano continued to hold the lead and won stage two.
Logano stayed out along with Majeski for the start of the final stage. On lap 95, Smith ran into the back of Chase Purdy, bringing out the eighth caution. Christian Eckes also received damage in the accident. With 20 laps to go, Rhodes spun out and collected Stewart Friesen, Corey Heim and Carson Hocevar to bring out the caution. Logano kept the lead on the restart and cruised home to the win.
