$600,000 Will Buy You This Tennessee Dragstrip

Tennessee, Dragway, Cherokee Dragway, track for sale, track closing

The last dragstrip on the market that we shared came with an asking price of a cool $4.25 million, which is understandably outside the budget of, well…most people. So here’s one at the other end of the price spectrum for the cost-conscious racetrack buyer.

Rogersville, Tennessee’s Cherokee Dragway, a former 1/4-mile turned 1/8-mile ‘strip, sitting on 31 acres and with a minimal number of homes in its direct surroundings, has hit the market at a price of $599,900. The track, as you’d expect, has a permanent announcer booth, concession building, restrooms, and all of the supporting equipment.

The track is located nearest to Knoxville, Tennessee (50 miles), but is also in the center of a number of major metros: 140 miles from Lexington, Kentucky, 150 miles from Charlotte, NC, 190 miles from Atlanta, and 200 miles from Nashville, meaning there’s ample potential for racers and spectators.

The good news for a prospective buyer is that a leaseholder to operate the facility is already in place, with an agreement through the 2032 season that the operator confirmed to DRAGZINE their family intends to retain through that period. So if you ever wanted to own a racetrack, and play a role in keeping a small-town track that serves as the backbone of this sport alive well into the future — at a fairly attractive price — then this is worth looking into.
