chief edition of the NHRA Insider Podcast, host Brian Lohnes is
joined by Dallas-winning Top Fuel crew chief Neal Strausbaugh and
Dallas pro stock-winning crew chief Mark Ingersoll for two
revealing discussions.
Both of these
crew chiefs talk about pressure, leadership, the team dynamic in
drag racing, and how they stuck to their respective programs even
when things were not always going according to plan in the 2023
season. For Strausbaugh, the proof is in the results. A final round
appearance in St Louis was followed in quick order by a win in
Dallas among one of the fastest top fuel fields in history. Mark
Ingersoll talks about the early season woes experienced by Erica
Enders and her car along with the work to fix it and how success
has really begun to pour their way in this late section of the
season.
Two guys who
want the ball in high-pressure situations and two guys who have
proven themselves to be among the best at their chosen craft. The
big lesson here? Nuts and bolts will only get you so far, it is the
people who ultimately carry the day.
