The quickest and fastest import cars in the world attend the Haltech World Cup Finals Import vs Domestic presented by Wiseco event held every year in October at Maryland International Raceway, with some even coming from outside the United States. Racing in Maryland at that time of year often delivers great density altitude numbers that racers take advantage of to set personal bests and, in some cases, world bests. Eric LaFerriere was one such racer who delivered an outstanding performance.
LaFerriere is the current X275 record holder in the Radial Tire Racing Association series, having clocked a 4.130 elapsed time at the TX2K event earlier in 2023, and he put on yet another phenomenal performance at the World Cup Finals event in 2023.
The veteran racer joined up with car owner Duy Bui and wheeled the “White Rice” Nissan 240SX to the second qualifying spot in X275 vs. Hot Rod with a 6.580 at 225.41 mph run. During eliminations, the Rhode Island resident went on to drop that to a slightly better 6.544 at 229 mph. He then followed that with a 6.369 pass at 231.16 mph to take the round two elimination win and set the X275 import radial-tire record. LaFerriere showed that wasn’t a fluke, as he backed that up with a 6.381 hit in the final round to secure the class win.
