Celebrating a decade of thrilling eighth-mile drag racing, the Professional Drag Racers Association (PDRA) has unveiled its eight-race schedule for the 2024 season. Breaking new ground, the series will debut at Bristol Dragway in Bristol, Tenn., while revisiting five familiar racetracks across the East Coast and Midwest. In addition to the exciting races, drivers will vie for coveted spots in the fourth annual Summit Racing Equipment PDRA ProStars.
Tyler Crossnoe, PDRA’s series director, emphasized the importance of consistency in track selection. Matching tracks capable of accommodating 3-second, 200-plus-MPH runs, accommodating large motorhomes, and providing an enjoyable experience for fans remains a complex challenge. Crossnoe expressed the commitment to fan engagement and the strategic importance of maintaining a presence in familiar markets.
As Crossnoe reflected on the upcoming season, he stated, “We’ve given the racers a great racer-based platform for years. It’s now time to continue to tweak, get better, and begin to showcase the insane amount of talent to motorsports fans of all ages.” The 2024 season will feature familiar stops like GALOT, Virginia, Norwalk, Maryland, and U.S. 131, with the exciting addition of the world-class facility at Bristol Dragway.
Commencing at GALOT Motorsports Park in Benson, N.C., on April 3-6, the 2024 PDRA season promises intense racing action. Virginia Motorsports Park in Dinwiddie will host its first points-earning event on April 18-20, followed by the Memorial Day Weekend tradition at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio, on May 23-25. The first half of the season concludes at Maryland International Raceway on June 13-15.
The Summit Racing Equipment PDRA ProStars race, scheduled for July 13 in conjunction with VMP’s Night of Fire, will showcase top PDRA drivers in chip-drawn shootouts, accompanied by concerts, exhibition cars, and a family-friendly festival atmosphere.
The second half of the season kicks off at U.S. 131 Motorsports Park in Martin, Mich., on Aug. 1-3, followed by a thrilling visit to “Thunder Valley” at Bristol Dragway on Aug. 22-24. Bristol Dragway, a state-of-the-art facility within the Speedway Motorsports portfolio, is set to host the PDRA for the first time, promising an exciting new chapter in the series’ history.
