McLaren driver Oscar Piastri has received the biggest boost in the final post-season driver ratings update for the official Formula 1 game.
EA Sports, publishers of the F1 23 game developed by Codemasters, announced the final update to in-game driver ratings following the conclusion of the season.
Piastri, who competed in his rookie season throughout 2023, has gained the highest boost in rating, jumping from an 83 overall rating up to 85. It moves the McLaren driver ahead of AlphaTauri drivers Yuki Tsunoda and Daniel Ricciardo, making him the equal-11th highest rated driver by overall rating. Similarly, Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, Esteban Ocon and Lance Stroll each received ratings boosts of one point each.
Conversely, Piastri’s fellow rookie Logan Sargeant saw his score fall by more than any driver, dropping from 71 overall to 69 – the lowest rating any driver on the grid has held at any point in the game’s lifespan. Piastri’s team mate Lando Norris and Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz Jnr also received a drop of one to their overall ratings, as did the Alfa Romeo pairing of Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu, as well as Kevin Magnussen, who reached his lowest rating of the season at 78.
Since F1 23 launched in June, Piastri has enjoyed the latest jump in overall rating of any driver, gaining 11 to his overall rating from 74 to 85 by the end of the season. Williams driver Alexander Albon and Zhou Guanyu also earned an increase of three over the course of the season, while Bottas and Aston Martin driver Lance Stroll dropped the most over the season, by six and four, respectively.
World champion Max Verstappen is the highest overall rated driver in the game with a rating of 96, with Fernando Alonso the closest to him on 93, one ahead of Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton. The two Ferrari drivers, Leclerc and Sainz, are equal on 90 overall, with Norris sixth of the 20 drivers with 88.
Former AlphaTauri driver Nyck de Vries was removed from the game with its September update, which added Daniel Ricciardo back into the game to reflect his replacement of De Vries following the British Grand Prix.
