Meziere's New Oil Priming Kit For BBC & SBC

Whether its water pumps and cooling system accessories, flexplates, or chassis components, Meziere Enterprises can supply it. But perhaps slightly lesser known is it oiling system products. At the PRI Show, the company showed off its new oil priming kits for Chevrolet high-performance and racing engines.

“We’ve had the pump in our catalog for a while, but we needed to make it so customers could buy it as a kit and install the entire thing,” Don Meziere says. “So we’ve got the lines, wiring, and a banjo fitting that allows you to get it into the oil pan.

Meziere is presently offering this kit for big-block and small-block Chevrolet engines at this time.

“The problem, especially with large cubic-inch engines, is you don’t wasn’t to dry-start those things,” Don continues. “You want everything well lubricated before you hit the starter. And what made us start thinking about this, is that our starters were coming back with the brushes worn out, in very little time. That’s because drivers were in the habit of hitting the starter for 30 seconds and waiting for 40-60 psi of pressure before they’d hit the ignition. For one thing, we didn’t want to see them wearing out their starter so fast, but with those big engines, it makes a big difference if you’re priming them before you start them. So that was the genesis of the intent behind this product.”

Meziere first developed the gerotor pump nearly a decade ago for industrial applications. The 12-volt pump will produce up to 40 psi, and revisions on the rotors, pressure, and inlet sections have made it a perfect fit for this purpose. The pump has an inlet filter built in, and the kit comes with a supply and suction line. Meziere has a mount for the Chevrolet engine block.

“It’s really simple — you get the low pressure to the oil pan, you put the high pressure into any oil galley, and then you wire it up. And then you can prime everything up,” Don explains.
