One Formula 2 seat left for 2024 as Trident confirm Stanek's return · RaceFans

Roman Stanek has taken the penultimate place on the Formula 2 grid for the upcoming season.

The Czech teenager, who will turn 20 before the season begins, has secured a return to Trident, who he made his F2 debut for last year. It will be his third year at the team having placed third in Formula 3 with them the season before.

Trident team manager Giacomo Ricci said Stanek “has been part of our family for a long time and was able to provide winning results in the past.”

“We are certain that all the ingredients are there to do well and achieve increasingly ambitious goals together,” he added. “The experience acquired in 2023 will prove pivotal to start the new season with the best conditions and maximum determination.”

Having taken a single win for the team in 2022, Stanek managed a best of fifth place during his first year as an F2 driver, in the partial-reversed-grid race at the Red Bull Ring. He ended the season 18th.

Stanek’s team mate will be Richard Verschoor, who raced for Trident in F2 two years ago, and is embarking on his fourth season in the category.

Trident’s announcement leaves PHM as the only team yet to confirm its driver line-up for the coming season. The team which fielded Roy Nissany and Brad Benavides previously confirmed newcomer Joshua Duerksen as its first driver for 2024.
