DRAGZINE To Support Popular Event Muscle Cars At The Strip

The annual Muscle Cars at the Strip presented by ARP, a staple west coast brand war at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Las Vegas, is just three weeks away, and DRAGZINE has partnered with the event to support two of its popular categories.

Muscle Cars at the Strip, once an all-Mopar affair, transitioned eight years ago to featuring all domestic high-performance makes and models of automobiles, accelerating the success of the event as the big-three makes battled it out for supremacy on one of the sport’s premier dragways.

DRAGZINE will serve as a presenting sponsor of the event’s headlining category, Pro Modified, as well as the bracket racing category Modern Muscle.

Modern Muscle class is designed for 2006-and-newer offerings from Ford, Chevrolet, and Dodge/Chrysler, which event promoter Phil Painter says often brings out a lot of Dodge Challenger Hellcats, Mustangs, and Camaros, and even draws the odd Ford GT, Corvette, and other models. The class competes on the 1/4-mile in a bracket racing format, with any power adders and modifications permissible.

The traveling series Xtreme Pro Mods West will be featured at the event, with supercharged, turbocharged, and nitrous cars battling it on the 1/4 mile.

“We have about a 50/50 split of hardcore racers and enthusiasts, so we have several heads-up classes and bracket racing classes, to cater to everyone,” Painter says. “The whole reason for the event is to get people to come out and do what their car was designed to do. It’s growing. The event traditionally draws over 500 drag racing competitors, with half or more running late model cars and powertrains like those found in Modern Muscle. The class is really taking off, because the cars are getting a little age on them to where guys are willing to take them out and beat on them now.”

“The magic of this event is we’re trying to give everyone a chance to come out and feel the passion they have for what they’re driving,” Painter adds. “We keep everybody segregated by classes, by the tire type and prep, and run a smart program. We want to put out the best product for everybody.”

Muscle Cars at The Strip will also feature Big Tire, Small Tire, Unlimited, Nostalgia Super Stock, Nostalgia Gassers, Super Pro and Pro bracket categories, the Pony Car Wars presented by Street Muscle Magazine, and many others. “If people like drag racing, there’s everything here you could want to see at this event,” Painter adds.
