Susie Wolff, the CEO of F1 Academy, is taking legal action over remarks she says the FIA made about her in December.

“I can confirm that I personally filed a criminal complaint in the French courts on the 4th of March in relation to the statements made about me by the FIA last December,” Wolff announced in a post on social media.

“There has still not been any transparency or accountability in relation to the conduct Of the FIA and its personnel in this matter.

“I feel more than ever it is important to Stand up, call out improper behaviour and make sure people are held to account.

“Whilst some may think silence absolves them from responsibility – it does not.”

Wolff and her husband, Mercedes Formula 1 team principal Toto Wolff, were understood to have been the subject of an investigation by the FIA’s Ethics Committee which the governing body announced in December last year. Although the pair were not named, reports elsewhere citing an unbylined magazine article identified them.

The investigation was dropped soon after Mercedes’ nine rival teams issued similarly-worded statements in which they denied having any concerns about condflicts of interests between the pair, which was the inquiry’s focus. However Wolff made it clear afterwards she was extremely unhappy her name had been dragged through the mud.

“When I saw the statement issued by the FIA yesterday evening, my first reaction was: ‘Is that it?’” she said in December.

“For two days, insinuations have been made about my integrity in public and through background briefings, but nobody from the FIA has spoken to me directly.”

Her husband Toto Wolff said in January the investigation did “great damage” despite being dropped as quickly as it was.

“I can’t speak for Susie but she is someone who doesn’t give up, she has a steely determination. It’s not the first time she has faced difficulties, and she will get to the bottom of every court. If one types ‘Susie Wolff’ on the web today, the investigation comes out as the first news: the bullet came from the rifle and can no longer go back inside.”
