It’s been a true stock car rollercoaster ride and it’s hard for Brown to fathom how quickly his racing career has evolved. He is committed, however, to enjoy every opportunity that comes his way.

On Wednesday, Richard Childress Racing made official what Motorsport.com had reported earlier this month – that Brown will drive the organization’s No. 33 Chevrolet in the June 9 Cup race Sonoma (Calif.) Raceway. MobileX and Motorola will sponsor Brown’s NASCAR debut.

Brown, 25, will join Shane van Gisbergen, Brodie Kostecki and Cam Waters as Supercars standouts who have made NASCAR national series starts in the past two seasons.

The native of Toowoomba, Queensland, leads the Supercars standings this season with three victories for the Triple Eight Race Engineering Red Bull team. He has eight career wins in 108 starts.

The victory served as the instigator for the Kiwi to move to NASCAR competition this season, where he is running full-time in the Xfinity Series while also running part-time in Cup races.

Gaining interest in the world of stock car racing

Brown’s own interest in NASCAR was fostered by watching races on TV but he dived far deeper into it following van Gisbergen’s shock win in Chicago and his subsequent ability to move to full-time NASCAR competition.
