Will Rodgers Survives To Win At World Wide Technology Raceway

After a wild race in the Super Late Models at World Wide Technology Raceway, Will Rodgers scored the victory in Round Seven of the Monday Night Racing Pro Series on June 20.

“At the end, I was the first car on the newest tires and took advantage. So here we are, winners,” Rodgers told Podium eSports.

The commonly known as Gateway has proven that it is difficult to pass, no matter what car is utilized. Monday was no different, as it was mostly a track position race. That meant the usual, fast suspects were up front mostly all race long.

The race turned out to be a wreckfest for the most part, with several cars not finishing or having major damage. With the inability to pass, making contact became a significant part of the race, as that is how many of the passes were made.

Strategy is something also seen at WWTR in real life, and it is no different in the sim. James Bickford, Landon Huffman and Rajah Caruth were three drivers who were primarily up front most of the race. However, because of strategy, none were able to capture the win.

Rodgers was in the right spot at the right time and took home the win in the end.

Nick Olsen, David Schildhouse, Leighton Sibille and Shane van Gisbergen rounded out the top five finishers.

The next race for MNR will be next Monday, June 27, at Charlotte Motor Speedway in the NASCAR Xfinity Series car. Coverage begins at 8 p.m. ET on Twitch.tv/podiumesports.
