2021 Phoenix II NXS Blaine Perkins NKP

SS GreenLight Racing and driver of their No. 07 Chevrolet Blaine Perkins have mutually agreed to part ways, the team announced March 21.

The team had just run a NASCAR Xfinity Series season best finish of 22nd at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

“Obviously we are disappointed with how the season has started,” Dotter said in a press release. “But after talking with Blaine and his group, we feel that it is in the best interest of all parties involved to mutually part ways and work to build some momentum heading into the next few weeks.”

SS GreenLight has called on Niece Motorsports driver Carson Hocevar to replace Perkins for the Xfinity Series race at Circuit of the Americas. Hocevar drives the No. 42 Chevrolet Silverado in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Hocevar will be attempting to make his Xfinity Series debut.

Dotter added, “We are extremely grateful for Carson, Al (Niece) and everyone involved in this decision, helping us move swiftly as the 07 team prepares for this weekend.”

Hocevar will attempt to qualify into the Pit Boss 250 presented by USA Today which will run on Saturday March 25 at 5 p.m. ET. Broadcasting will be on FOX Sports 1.
