RFK Racing will enter a third car in the 2024 Daytona 500, with David Ragan the driver, the team announced Nov. 29.

Ragan is piloting the No. 60 in the number’s return to the RFK fold.

Build Submarines will sponsor the entry, which is billed as Stage60, a program that appears similar to Trackhouse Racing’s Project91 car.

“The [No.] 60 car represents an opportunity for us to honor our past and look forward to the future of RFK Racing,” Steve Newmark, RFK president, said in a release. “We’re thankful to have partners like BuildSubmarines.com, who, like us, have a mission to grow and be best in class in all endeavors.”

According to RFK, it plans to field the No. 60 in other races in 2024, with an expanded schedule to be announced later.

“It’s really exciting to be back in an RFK Ford,” Ragan added. “I spent some of the best years of my career driving for Mr. Jack (Roush, co-owner) and the team at RFK. They really gave me my first opportunity in the sport and I have to thank BuildSubmarines.com for helping make this happen. We had a really strong run going in my last year at Roush at the 500, and hopefully we can go back and finish what we started.”

The Daytona 500 marks a return to the NASCAR Cup Series for Ragan, who didn’t compete in a NASCAR national series in 2023, his first absence since his debut in 2004.

He competed in four races for Rick Ware Racing in Cup in 2022, earning two top 10s.

Ragan began his Cup career with RFK in 2006, then Roush Racing, winning a Cup race for the team in 2011 before departing for Front Row Motorsports the next season.
